Sooooo those new gun control laws that Nutter signed? Forgeddaboudit.
The NRA came running to Philadelphia to call foul on Michael Nutter. Too stringent. Not fair. Can't have laws in the war zone any more strict than they are out in Pennsyltucky. Cause them people love to hunt!
I knew it wouldn't take long for the laws to be revoked by the state (Lynn Abraham already went all Constitutional), but having the message again delivered by the NRA only adds salt to the wound. And to the wounds (literal and emotional) of the hundreds affected by the too-lax rules already this year.
But I guess it's a no-brainer. I mean, c'mon, limiting handgun purchases to only one a month? One a month?! How would anyone get by with only 12 handguns a year?
And making it a crime to not report a lost or stolen gun within 48 hours. Shit, gun-wielders can't be responsible for that stuff. They just had their gun stolen, they need to go buy 12 more.
Letting police confiscate guns (with a judge's approval) from people considered a danger to themselves or others? Why, there wouldn't be anyone on the streets allowed to carry guns anymore.
What about not allowing people targeted by a judge for protection from abuse own guns? Because then how would they shoot people?
And lastly (this is a doozie now) Nutter actually wanted to ban semiautomatic weapons with clips that hold 10 or more rounds from the streets of Philadelphia. That would make out-shooting the cops a bit trickier with just a regular handgun. Their fingers might get sore.
You still gets points in my book for trying, Mayor Nutter. Keep on keepin' on. Don't loose that John Adams spirit. If all else fails, just start a new country.
